Apparently shaken by pre-poll surveys predicting a defeat for the Telugu Desam in Seemandhra, which he was banking on, and Telangana, party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu in a big climbdown drove over to the residence of actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday to seek his support for the BJP-TD alliance in both regions.
Mr Naidu’s sudden capitulation came just a day after the actor pointedly ignored him during the rally of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Hyderabad.
“I met Pawan to seek his support for the TD-BJP alliance in both regions. I leave campaign decisions to him,” Mr Naidu said after an hour-long meeting with Pawan Kalyan at the latter’s Jubilee Hills residence.
