CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury on Friday said the proposed land pooling is `another attempt to deceive farmers’.
Yechury told mediapersons in the district that Naidu had already `ditched’ farmers by not implementing his promise to waive all agriculture loans. He said farmers would be severely hit if their lands were taken for the capital city through the land pooling process. He demanded that the state government should follow the Land Acquisition Act, 2013 as it would benefit all sections of people in the capital region. “Land acquisition Act, 2013 is a revolutionary Act brought by the UPA government under pressure from the left parties. It covers all sections of people and benefits them to a large extent,“ he said.
He said land pooling is only an attempt to dupe gullible farmers by making promises to build skyscrapers. He said farmers in many villages are not willing to part with their lands for the capital. He cautioned chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu against forcibly taking over lands from farmers.Yechury criticised the Modi government, alleging that the government at the Centre was `trying to dilute the land acquisition Act’ to help corporate firms.
