Cash-for-vote: Audio transcripts sent to FSL (Times, July 17)
HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have started sending transcripts of audio and audio-visual recordings related to the cash-for-vote case to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for attestation. Once the lab attests the transcripts, the ACB sleuths are planning to file a petition in court seeking permission to record voice samples of the accused.
Top ACB sources said they have sent transcripts of conversations (audio) between cash-for-vote case accused MLA A Revanth Reddy, bishop Harry Sebastian and the complainant, MLA Elvis Stephenson, captured by digital recorders and iPhones set up by the bureau during the trap, to the FSL for attestation.
Forensic experts would go through the transcripts and attest it if it matches with the audio conversations in their possession.
Once FSL attests the transcripts, the ACB sleuths, citing it as evidence, could move court seeking permission to record voice samples of the accused to match it with the conversation captured during the trap case.
If the accused refuse to give their voice samples, which they can, ACB sources said that they would use admitted voice samples like voice in TV interview or Assembly speech records or public speech recordings for the matching test.
The ACB personnel were also transcribing the conversation recordings in Harry Sebastian’s phone, which might have the prized conversation between AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Elvis Stephenson. In fact, the ACB has recently arrested Sattupally MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, citing the conversation between him and Sebastian about the cash-for-vote issue recorded in the latter’s phone.
Some ACB teams were on the transcription work, while some more were working exclusively on tracking the origin of the Rs 50 lakh bribe amount seized on May 31.
To track the bribe amount, the ACB personnel were analyzing call data and scrutinizing bank transactions of some suspects, who were in contact with the arrested accused on the day of the trap.
TDP leader Vem Narender Reddy’s son Vem Krishna Keertan was questioned for the second consecutive day by the ACB personnel in relation to such phone calls. Krishna Keertan is a software engineer with an MNC and ACB sleuths said they were verifying transactions from his bank accounts.

గోదావరి పుష్కరాల తొలిరోజే 27 మంది మృతికి కారణమైన తొక్కిసలాట దుర్ఘటనలో తప్పంతా యాత్రికులదేనని తేల్చారు. ఆమేరకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వానికి నివేదిక కూడా పంపారు. రాజమండ్రి పుష్కర ఘాట్‌ వద్ద తొలిరోజు జరిగిన తొక్కిసలాటలో 27 మంది మృతి చెందడం, 33 మంది క్షతగాత్రులు కావడం ప్రమాదవశాత్తూ జరిగిన ఘటనగా తూర్పుగోదావరి జిల్లా కలెక్టర్‌ హెచ్‌.అరుణ్‌కుమార్‌ కేంద్ర హోంశాఖకు, ఎన్‌హెచ్‌ఆర్‌సికి నివేదిక పంపారు. ఇది కేవలం ప్రమాదవశాత్తూ జరిగిందేనని కలెక్టర్‌ ఆ నివేదికలో స్పష్టం చేశారు.
చంద్రబాబు పుష్కర ఘాట్‌కు చేరుకున్న సమయానికి ఘాట్‌ బయట సుమారు లక్ష మంది యాత్రికులు వేచిఉన్నారు. సిఎం స్నాన, పిండ ప్రదాన కార్యక్రమాలు పూర్తిచేసుకుని ఘాట్‌ బయటకు వచ్చేసరికి సుమారు రెండు లక్షల మంది యాత్రికులు ఘాట్‌ వద్దకు చేరుకోవడంతో ఘాట్‌ వద్ద ఇసుకేస్తే రాలని జనం ఉన్నారు. సిఎం ఘాట్‌లో ఉన్న సమయంలో యాత్రికులను ఇతర ఘాట్లకు మళ్లించడంలో ప్రభుత్వం ఘోరంగా విఫలమైంది. పోలీసు ఉన్నతాధికారులు, సీనియర్‌ ఐపిఎస్‌ అధికారులు అక్కడున్నప్పటికీ ముందుగా అలాంటి ఆలోచన చేయలేదు. సిఎం సూచనమేరకు ఓ లఘు చిత్రం కోసం ఘాట్‌ వద్దకు జనాన్ని ఉద్దేశపూర్వకంగానే అధికారులు తరలించారనే ఆరోపణలున్నాయి.
పోలీసులు రాష్ట్ర హోం శాఖ ఆధీనంలో ఉంటారు. అంటే హోంమంత్రికీ బాధ్యత ఉంది. పోలీసుల కార్యకలాపాల నుంచి పుష్కరాల కార్యకలాపాల వరకూ మంత్రి నారాయణ దగ్గరుండి చూసుకుంటున్నారు.
