Police foil Jagan’s fast, shift him to hospital
GUNTUR: YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy’s indefinite fast was foiled in the early hours of Tuesday as the police practically lifted him up and took him to Government General Hospital (GGH) after his health deteriorated on the seventh day of fast. Jagan had been fasting for special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
With Jagan refusing to end the fast by taking oral supplements, doctors forcibly administered IV fluids.
Dr Naidu said that had Jagan continued the fast, it would have resulted in renal failure and he could have slipped into a coma as ketones touched 4-plus late on Monday night.
R’seema BJP Leaders to Knock Delhi Doors
The BJP leaders from Rayalaseema are of the view that N Chandrababu Naidu’s government is not addressing the concerns of the four districts of the region, which are underdeveloped, properly on any issue, whether it is irrigation front or undertaking developmental projects. Hence, party leaders from the region have sought a fresh appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Amit Shah by October end to have an audience with each of them separately, so as to urge them to protect the interests of Rayalaseema.
A delegation of BJP leaders from Rayalaseema will undertake a two-day visit to New Delhi by the end of this month so as to explain to our Delhi bosses how our region is being neglected by the State government on every front,” party State unit vice president K Kapileswaraiah told Express.
Alleging that the legitimate rights of the four districts of the region are being trampled by the TDP government, he said during their proposed visit to the national capital they would plead with the Centre to safeguard the interests of the region.
The argument of the BJP’s Rayalaseema leaders is that the State government is doing grave injustice to the backward region on irrigation front. According to them, the State government has been releasing water from the Srisailam dam, which has a dead storage level of 30 tmcft at present, to Nagarjunasagar, undermining the irrigation and drinking water needs of Rayalaseema.
The BJP’s Rayalaseema leaders alleged that the State government is doing this only to protect the interests of Krishna delta farmers.
At a time when the State government is claiming that the ongoing Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project would end the irrigation woes of drought-hit Rayalaseema, BJP leaders from the region held a contrary view.
