HYDERABAD:Blame it on caste politics, lack of infrastructure or frequent shuttling between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, top officials in Andhra Pradesh are making a beeline for Delhi. According to top sources, five IPS and two IAS officers from Andhra Pradesh cadre are Delhi bound.
Top sources told Express that the five IPS officers have forwarded their request for central deputation to the Andhra Pradesh government and are waiting for the green light.
Interestingly, almost all are keen to take up any assignment at the Centre, which indicates the babus are looking at New Delhi as a better place to settle down with their families.
The IPS officers in question are VSK Kaumudi of 1986 batch, famous for his previous stint in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) where he investigated the sensational fodder scam involving Lalu Prasad Yadav, KV Rajendranath Reddy of 1992 batch, PV Sunil Kumar of 1993 batch, Anjana Sinha of 1990 batch and Atul Singh of 1995 batch. The IAS officers are Ajay Sawhney and his wife Neelam Sawhney.
“There is no proper infrastructure in Vijayawada and when compared to Hyderabad, it appears very backward. At present, our families are in Hyderabad and children are studying there. From any which way we look at settling down in(Vijayawada), it does not seem to work out. Moreover, we will have to shift to Vijayawada sooner than later,” said an official. According to him, the caste politics in Andhra too is taking a toll on officials who want to work without any bias.
