Japanese team leaves Naidu red-faced
Guntur: A Japanese delegation stunned chief minister N Chandrabbau Naidu by leaving the capital city area without even waiting for his arrival on Tuesday. According to sources, the failure of officials who oversaw the Japanese team’s visit to coordinate both the VIP tours forced Naidu to face a most embarrassing situation. He visited the secretariat only because the Japanese were slated to go there too but was shocked to see they had exited by then.
During a meeting in Vijayawada on Monday, the CM invited Japan industrialists and investors to go around Amaravati as an insight of the area would enable them to invest better in AP’s capital. He reportedly promised to accompany them on Tuesday.
With Naidu himself forwarding the invitation, the Japanese agreed to visit Amaravati and asked CRDA officials to make arrangements. However, the delegates who arrived at Velagapudi around 9 am did not even come out of their bus. They asked the officials to take their vehicle around the makeshift secretariat as they do not want to get down and inspect the works.
CRDA officials are said to have requested them to visit the place once as Naidu was expected to reach the place shortly. The Japanese team refused to budge and asked the escort to take them away.
In fact, the CM was infuriated when he was asked to get down from his bus when the massive vehicle got stuck in the mud half a km away from the interim secretariat. Realising that the driver cannot possibly take the bus ahead, Naidu finally got down from it and proceeded to the worksite in another vehicle.
